Grace returned to her home in Palmetto Bluff from an extensive refit just in time to celebrate the birthday of her namesake Grace Wilson Vanderbilt. She was just about to conclude her busiest and most successful month ever when Hurricane Helene smashed through Palmetto Bluff in the early morning hours of September 28th. Grace was apparently hit by a tornado that touched down in South Wilson, the Montage Cottages, and then The Grace Dock.
The tornado ripped every single piece of the canopy and frame along with cabinetry and seating clean off the boat and impaled it on the Grace Dock pilings. By the Grace of God, there is not a scratch on the deck or the hull of the boat. However, and needless to say, the entire canopy and frame must now be rebuilt. We are heartbroken at the extent of the damage but thankfully no one was hurt.
Grace needs us all now more than ever and the good news is that we have an opportunity to restore her even better than she was. Your generosity is greatly appreciated as we embark on a new journey Operation Mending Grace (OMG)!
Please contribute whatever you like to help bring Grace back to better than she was before.
